(KRON) -- A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was shot in San Jose Wednesday afternoon, the city's police department said. The shooting happened on the 2000 block of Beatrice Court. Police were called to the scene at 3:20 p.m. SJPD expects traffic to be impacted on Princess Anne Drive and Beatrice Court while an investigation is conducted. This is a developing story. (KRON) -- The Santa Clara Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office is asking for the public's help with identifying a woman who recently died. The woman was hit by a car on Interstate 880 on May 14. The crash happened in the northbound lanes just north of Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose. Her official cause of death remains under investigation. She is about 5-foot-1, 110 pounds with medium-length gray-and-red hair, brown eyes and natural teeth. The woman has no obvious tattoos and the county does not know if she is transient. (KRON) -- The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has been contacted twice this week when people spotted a person in an orange jumpsuit and suspected a prisoner had made an escape, officials confirmed to KRON4. (KRON) -- A "major" medical emergency on a Bay Area Rapid Transportation track brought the Bay Fair station to a stop on Wednesday afternoon, according to BART officials. Trains were back on the move by 3 p.m., and the coroner also responded to the scene, BART said. KINGSTON, Ontario (AP) — A defrocked Canadian priest and convicted sex offender is facing eight new criminal charges for past sexual assaults he allegedly committed while living in northern Canada, authorities said Wednesday.Iqaluit Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Eric Dejaeger, 76, was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant in Kingston, Ontario, where he was living. DOVER, Del. (AP) — Two bills aimed at greater transparency and public accountability in cases alleging misconduct by police officers cleared a Democrat-led House committee on Wednesday despite concerns by reform advocates that they do not go far enough.One measure targets the current confidentiality provisions in Delaware’s Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights, or LEOBOR, which critics claim have been used to shield information from the public regarding officers who have been disciplined for misconduct.The other bill establishes a new Police Officer Standards and Training Commission, which would replace Delaware’s Council on Police Training. The legislation also shifts responsibility for administrative support and oversight of mandatory training and education programs for police officers from the Delaware State Police to the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
